Miami, FL - With Hurricane Jeanne threatening Miami, Sgt. Joe Schillaci and Det. Olga Rome must solve the murder of the owner of a popular strip club. The club's surveillance video reveals three men ambushing the victim. They must race against time to catch the killers before their investigation is halted by the approaching hurricane.

Dallas, TX - A motorist passing along a highway discovers a man's body with a knife wound to the chest and his genitals burnt up. Miami, FL - Soon after discovering a bullet-ridden body, Sgt. Joe Schillaci learns the murder may spark a bloody turf war between rival heroin dealers in the neighborhood. Schillaci realizes, to prevent further bloodshed, he must infiltrate the world of heroin dealers and get them to reveal the killer's identity. But going undercover means Schillaci must confront his own traumatic past as a street narcotics cop when he gunned down a man during a buy-and-bust operation gone wrong.

Miami, FL/Dallas, TX - A young man's body is found next to a high-rise, a victim of an apparent suicide. But the investigation takes a twist when Sgt. Joe Schillaci discovers signs of a struggle on the victim's body and soon after, a second body. Detectives in Dallas find two burned up bodies in opposite sides of town on the same night. The investigation leads to a motel where they find a bloody room and the possible murder scene.

Miami, FL - In a case of young man shot dead, Det. Ervens Ford and his team learn the suspected killer is a member of a notorious gang. The team must hunt him down, before he flees the country. After two teenagers are brutally gunned down Sgt. Pepi Granado and Det. Freddy Ponce learn there's a witness who saw the murders go down. 
13 26 "Deadly Attraction" August 11, 2005 (2005-08-11)
Miami, FL - In his final case as a homicide investigator, Sgt. Joe Schillaci teams up with Dets. Mayree Morin and Olga Rome to solve a baffling murder of a man found murdered in his bed. Schillaci and his team soon learn the killer comes from the homeless scene and may be a worker for a traveling carnival.

Sgts. Tony Mullins and Doreen Shelton get caught in the rumor mill and must separate truth from lies as they struggle to identify the two men who robbed and killed a neighborhood drug dealer.

Dets. Steve Orona and Jeremy Rosenthal respond to a call of a foul odor coming from an apartment. The body of a woman, wrapped in a blanket, is decomposing on the floor of the bathroom. Jose "Pepi" Granado and rookie detective Armando Aguilar are confronted with a dead victim and a wounded man at two crime scenes just blocks apart. Miami, FL - Sgt. Mo Velazquez and Det. Freddy Ponce discover an unidentified victim in the back seat of a torched rental car. The investigation takes a bizarre turn, as detectives uncover a kidnapping and robbery plot involving a crew of drug dealers they have to work through one by one.

Memphis, TN/Miami,FL - Sgts. respond to an unusual scene, a dead man hunched over a swing set. Working with clues found on the crime scene they piece together information and get a break when they are able to locate and crack an uncooperative witness. Det. Fernando Bosch investigates a murder that takes him across state lines. On a desperate search to find the killer of a man who died in Miami, their leads take them to a potential suspect who has reportedly fled to Atlanta. 
9 36 "Last Exit/Out Cold" January 5, 2006 (2006-01-05)
Phoenix, AZ/Miami, FL - Two patrol officers driving on a service road to the Black Canyon freeway notice a dark shape at the curb. When they pull over they find a man lying dead in the road. Responding Homicide Dets. Jeremy Rosenthal and Alex Feminia will investigate this mysterious case. In little Havanna Dets. Aguilar and Bosch are investigating the death of a man found in front of a bar with his skull cracked. With no leads, they have to find out who their victim is and how he ended up out cold. But after the autopsy they know one thing for certain--this is a homicide. 
10 37 "Dead Man Running/Crash" January 12, 2006 (2006-01-12)
Memphis, TN/Miami, FL - Det. Mullins and his team work the case of a man found shot on a porch. A trail of blood from the victim leads to another house where they learn from several witnesses that a drug deal involving counterfeit money might have played a part in the crime. Det. Schechterle works his first case as lead investigator when a man is found shot near an auto body shop. The victim was in a car accident the night before and possibly wanted to meet up with the other person involved. 
11 38 "Close Ties/Last Call" February 9, 2006 (2006-02-09)
Phoenix, AZ/Memphis, TN - When Det. Alex Femenia is called to a scene where three young people are found dead in their home, it is his job to cull through the evidence and determine if a triple murder or a murder suicide has happened. Their only chance in solving this case might be to find a bag full of evidence who was dumped somewhere in the desert. Sgts. Tony Mullins and Caroline Mason get their first call of the week, a dead body laying on the front lawn of a home. The mother of the victim gives the Sgt's a clue, she tells them the last time she saw her son alive, he was with his girlfriend. 
12 39 "Pack of Lies" March 2, 2006 (2006-03-02)
Miami, FL - Sgt. Altarr Williams and Det. Leo Tapanes discover a young man brutally stabbed to death in his house. The investigators soon learn that the victim may have been killed by associates in an alleged crystal meth ring. To find the killer, they must dig through the victim's private life in order to discover the truth buried in a pack of lies.

Memphis: Sgt Caroline Mason and her team respond to a convenience store shooting, where surveillance cameras captured the last few moments of a man's life. Investigators must sift through the footage for clues that will point them to the killer. 
2 41 "Inner Demons / Kids With Guns" June 22, 2006 (2006-06-22)
Miami: Det. Castillo and Det. Castellanos find a man murdered outside his own apartment. While hunting for the killer, they uncover the victim's inner life, revealing a man torn between who he is and what he believes. Memphis: A tragic triple shooting leaves two young men dead and one fighting for his life in the hospital. Detectives soon find out that the deadly shooter and his partner may be kids, too. With their only witness in critical condition, they race against the clock to catch the killers before they strike again. 
3 42 "Boogie Man/Murder on Flowering Peach" June 22, 2006 (2006-06-22)
Dallas: Homicide Detectives respond to a call about a body in the charred remains of a car. Digging into the victim's life uncovers a dangerous lifestyle with questionable friends. With each interview, a new piece of the puzzle is revealed and investigators take one step closer to the killer. Memphis: Sergeant Tony Mullins and his team find themselves crossing state lines into neighboring Mississippi in their hunt for the person responsible for a home invasion that left one man dead.

Miami: Detectives Ricky Martinez and Fernando Bosch investigate the double homicide of a husband and wife. As they race against the clock to find the killer, they discover that their best witness in the case tragically also has the most at stake. Memphis: Sgt. Ron Collins and his team must solve the mystery behind a car discovered on the edge of town. The car's owner had given the keys to her boyfriend three days earlier and he has been missing ever since. Now there is blood dripping from the trunk. 
5 44 "Pre-Emptive Strike/Unlucky" July 1, 2006 (2006-07-01)
Memphis: Lt. Toney Armstrong and his team respond to a shooting where the killer may be barricaded in his apartment. Then the stand-off gives way to a dispute among friends where detectives must determine if the shooter was acting in self-defense, or not. Dallas: Detectives Kim Sanders and Paul Ellzey start with nothing but a decomposed body, and are quickly drawn into a fast-paced manhunt to track down a mentally unstable suspect who they're afraid might hurt someone else. 
6 45 "Crossfire/School Ties" July 29, 2006 (2006-07-29)
Miami: Detectives Emiliano Tamayo and Ervens Ford find a young woman shot dead in a convenience store. The store's surveillance footage reveals she may have been an innocent victim. Another man was the target. They need to find him before it's too late. Across town, fellow Miami Detectives Fernando Bosch and Rick Martinez are investigating the murder of a man shot dead on the street in the middle of the day. The victim's girlfriend was there and may know the identity of the killer. 
7 46 "The Run Around/Night Cap" August 5, 2006 (2006-08-05)
Memphis: Sergeant Mitch Oliver and his team respond to the murder of a man shot in his car while parked at a local mini market. In order to track down their shooter, detectives must rely on witnesses who sometimes hide more than they reveal. Phoenix: Detective Rosenthal is investigating the case of young man shot dead and left in the parking lot of a local bar. His biggest lead is the bar's surveillance tape. It could reveal who the victim was with the night he was killed. 
8 47 "Memphis Blues/Knife to the Heart" August 12, 2006 (2006-08-12)
Miami: Detectives respond to the stabbing murder of an elderly man found dead in his home. After collecting key evidence on the crime scene and talking to witnesses, Detective Rolando Garcia starts to suspect the victim's emotionally unstable nephew may have committed the murder. Memphis: Sergeant Caroline Mason investigates the murder of a young man outside of a liquor store. She uses all her interrogation skills and street smarts to find her suspect. 
9 48 "Fool for Love/Dumped" August 19, 2006 (2006-08-19)
Dallas: Detective Rick Duggan has to solve the murder of a decomposed body. To solve the case, detectives delve into the victim's past leading them on a trail lined with love and deceit. Memphis: A dead body mysteriously dumped in an empty field has Detective Tim Helldorfer and his team scrambling for leads. 
10 49 "The Wrong Man/Five Points Payback" August 19, 2006 (2006-08-19)
Memphis: On a rain-soaked morning, Sgts. Tony Mullins and Mitch Oliver respond to a drive-by shooting, and learn that the victim is an innocent bystander. The man who says he was the intended target lead Mullins and Oliver on a manhunt for two brothers alleged to be the driver and the shooter. Dallas: When a man is shot to death in a van, Det. Dale Lundberg must untangle a web of conflicting stories about the man's identity to try to find his killer. 
11 50 "Candy Lady/Best of Friends" September 2, 2006 (2006-09-02)
Memphis: Sergeants Bill Ashton and Caroline Mason hunt for the killer of a beloved neighborhood "Candy Lady", shot through her closed front door. From the projects of the city to the trailer parks of the countryside, they leave no stone unturned in their search for the elusive killer. Miami: Detectives Ervens Ford and Kevin Ruggiero track the killer of a 17-year old shot in the notorious Liberty City section called the "Pork and Beans". Eyewitnesses paint very different stories about the shooting and Ford and Ruggiero must sift through the lies and get to the truth before time runs out. 
12 51 "Family Affair/The Hustler" September 16, 2006 (2006-09-16)
Dallas: A young woman is found stabbed, beaten, and burned on a bed. The victim's 12-year-old niece and her mother are missing. Lead Detective Dale Lundberg soon discovers that this murder is extremely personal. Memphis: Sgt. Mitch Oliver is investigating the homicide of a pool hustler found dead in a seedy motel room. The victim's car is nowhere to be found. Oliver hopes if he finds the car, he'll find his suspect. 
13 52 "Motel Massacre/Pure Innocent" ?
Memphis_ Motel turns into a war zone when a gunfight leaves two men dead and another critically injured. Sgt. WD Merritt and the homicide team spring into action to find their shooter. Kansas: Homicide Det. Everett Babcock leads the investigation into the shooting death of a two-year-old baby. To Babcock's surprise, an eight-year-old witness leads police on a nationwide manhunt.. 
14 54 "Broken Alibis/A Good Woman" November 16, 2006 (2006-11-16)
Miami: Homicide detective Freddy Ponce is called to the brutal beating death of a homeless man. After finding what he believes is the suspect, Ponce's case takes an unexpected turn. Kansas: A grandmother is found stabbed to death in her kitchen. Detective Ray Lenoir hunts down several potential leads, but it is the forensic evidence that finally reveals their suspect. 
15 55 "Houdini/Innocent Lost" November 30, 2006 (2006-11-30)
Memphis: A gas station clerk is shot in an armed robbery. The clerk hits the store's panic button, locking his killer inside. Moments later, the clerk dies from his wounds. When Sgt. Kevin Lundy arrives on the scene, the store is sealed, with no way out, and the killer is gone. The team must track down a killer who seems to have disappeared into thin air. Miami: Det. Rolly Garcia is investigating the murder of a nine-year-old girl who was killed while playing outside her house. The detectives believe that she was caught in a shootout between two men. They must rely on witnesses among the outraged members of the community to point them toward their suspects. 
16 56 "Wrong Turn/Deadly Dance" December 7, 2006 (2006-12-07)
Miami: Detective Carlos Castellanos and Sgt. Jose "Pepi" Granado are working the murder of a 54-year old tourist. As they hit the streets to track down the killer, they learn the victim was in town for more than the Miami sunshine: it's his son's 17th birthday. Memphis: A high school dance turns deadly when shots ring out. Sgt. Kevin Lundy must figure out who shot at a car outside the school, leaving one teen near death and another dead at the scene. 
17 57 "Moment of Truth/Cat and Mouse" December 14, 2006 (2006-12-14)
Dallas: A woman is shot in while sitting in her car. Detective Eddie Ibarra and the homicide team focus in on two suspects swept up in a robbery investigation, and the pieces of the murder mystery begin to fall into place. Detroit: A young woman and her daughter are shot dead in their apartment. Detective Ernie Wilson immediately gets the name of the shooter, but finding him is a game of cat and mouse. 
18 58 "Get that Money/Senseless" December 21, 2006 (2006-12-21)
Kansas: A young man is found dead in the middle of an apartment complex. With no leads or witnesses, Detective Ed Begley is hoping the victim's cell phone can help him find the killer. Memphis: A case gets personal for Sgt. Caroline Mason when a woman is killed in the neighborhood where she grew up. 
19 59 "Easy Prey/Widowmaker" December 28, 2006 (2006-12-28)
Dallas: Detectives are working a shooting that left a 26-year-old woman dead, when a mysterious caller gives them a one word nickname--"Mississippi." Miami: An elderly man is found duct-taped and beaten to death outside his house as his wife of forty years is asleep inside. Detectives have to find out whether the murder is a simple robbery, or a twisted act of retribution.

After tracking down two homeless witnesses and finding a piece of crucial evidence, police were able to charge James Bartley with capital murder. The Dallas DA's office was responsible for bringing the case to a close. In order to do that successfully, the prosecutor and her investigator had to keep close tabs on their key homeless witnesses for years, while the cased awaited trial. When Bartley finally stood trial in 2009, the prosecution worried the jury wouldn't believe the testimony of two homeless crack addicts and find the evidence insufficient to prove Bartley guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

They would eventually arrest the boyfriend of Kenny's ex-girlfriend and the mother of his one-year-old daughter. The following year the boyfriend stood trial for capital murder. Dallas: In August 2006, homicide detectives were called to an illegal dentist office to investigate the shooting death of 67-year-old Jose Raul Diaz. They arrested Felipe Luna and Roberto Rosales for the murder. During his interrogation, Luna confessed to the murder and said that Rosales had planned the crime, but backed out at the last moment. If convicted of capital murder, both men faced a sentence of life without parole.

The innocent victim, 19-year old Mikael Hudson, had been killed by a single gunshot fired from a vehicle in pursuit of he and his friends. For over two years detectives pursued her husband, the man they suspected of killing her, who had fled to his native country of Mexico with their two young children.
